From RISE’s perspective, alternative energy is essential to securing Liberia’s future because it addresses some of the country’s most pressing development, environmental, and economic challenges simultaneously. With frequent power outages, heavy reliance on expensive diesel generation, and climate vulnerabilities that threaten traditional energy systems, Liberia needs diversified, clean, and resilient energy sources to drive sustainable growth. Alternative energy such as solar, biomass, hydro, and waste-to-energy offers a pathway to expand electricity access, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, lower energy costs for households and businesses, and strengthen community resilience. It also creates green jobs, supports local innovation, and reduces pressure on forests that communities depend on for their livelihoods. By championing these solutions, RISE sees alternative energy not just as a technological choice but as a foundational pillar for a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable Liberia.
